Darlene & Me Photo Series by Anja Niemi

For her latest project, Darlene & Me, the photographer Anja Niemi takes us on a surreal journey into the Californian desert with the character of Darlene Parker, a fictional beauty therapist from the 1960s. Niemi’s playful images show the character at war and at peacge with herself. Portraying a woman’s complex relationship with herself, Niemi continues to play the part of photographer, sunject and director; capturing moments of conflict, agony and comfort.
