Danielle Van Ark spent 5 weeks in total to make the sand carpets. First she designed the patterns on the floor with tape and pencil. Then she made the big tires and patterns by using an icing bag with a small spout. This was very intense and was not always precise, the carpet sometimes even seemed to wave, but showed that it was made by hand. For the different figures she cut small templates. She deliberately cut it by hand and didn’t use a laser, to show the handicraft of her work. It took 5 weeks to put down and 5 minutes to sweep up these sand carpets by the cleaning lady.
